I hope you had today to catch up and enjoy being back home and in your well-stocked kitchen! Did you get yourself a box of the ever-expanding organic greens? I now smile every time I make myself a salad, which I am trying to do every day.

Avery - yes, I should have told you then shouldn't I? Sometimes my brain doesn't function too well. To test baking powder, stir 1 tsp. into half a cup of hot water. it should bubble - the more it bubbles, the more active it is! if it does nothing, it's dead. Baking soda -I'm not completely sure it can lose its punch, but to test it stir a spoonful into a spoonful of vinegar - same thing, it should bubble.

I'm slow, so as per your last post:"...Avery - how’s your baking powder or soda? Could it be dead?"
I had no idea baking powder or soda could die. I can't keep plants alive, so letting my baking soda kick the bucket is very feasible. Other than flat muffins, how can you tell?

What a big cream puff, did we die and go to cream puff heaven? I would have eaten all of it, that is one of the reasons I stay away from bakeries.

One of my uncles is from Belgium and he makes the best cream puffs ever, he is now 88, but I have memories of his cream puffs....ok drooling here!

Welcome home Julie :)
