Bacon and Tomato Sandwich

A. brought tomatoes from her in-laws’ garden in BC. Mom brought a loaf of crusty sourdough. There was bacon in the freezer. We couldn’t rightly not have bacon and tomato sandwiches for dinner.
(Mike and I shared this – it’s enormous – I’m not a total glutton. Well, maybe a little bit.)

Now I really want a bacon sandwich at 8am.
Major cravings.

This is a BIG mofo sandwich. You know those big round loaves of bread, when you cut a cross-section slice the pieces are huge. And a pile of bacon. It was enormous! plus salad.

Right now, seeing that picture, I really wish I hadn’t given up bacon.

I just discovered the trick of weaving bacon strips together and it’s rocking me like a hurricane.

Even w/o the bacon it is mouthwatering!!

Hello Julie,
I’ve been quickly reading your blog but no time to comment. I’ve also been under the weather!
That doesn’t look like that much, but it looks good even if I don’t like bacon…ya I know, weird!
Have a great weekend.

Yum! So simple, but so delicious.
I’ll have to make one of these soon … they always were my dad’s favourite breakfast sandwich!

Elaine ~ What do you mean by weaving the bacon?
You are lucky A brought such great tomatoes…. Late Blight here is making them scarce
JulieVR on 28 Aug 2009 at 2:45 pm #
Oh yes – it’s just what it sounds like Kate, you weave the bacon. Google it! The bacon basket, bacon cup… oh yes..
thepinkpeppercorn on 28 Aug 2009 at 4:25 pm #
Wow, a glutton? I eat this all the time! But with olive oil too.
JulieVR on 28 Aug 2009 at 4:28 pm #
I suppose you can’t properly gauge the mammoth size of this sandwich by the photo – it’s enormous! With about 8 slices of bacon.

I only allow myself bacon with my eggs at my favourite restaurant on Saturday mornings AFTER weighing in at WW. However, because of your fabulous picture, I am going to make an exception and have a BLT on Sunday. I will compensate by using WW bread.

I can’t believe I have yet to have a toasted tomato sandwich this summer. What is going on??? Heading to the farmer’s market… NOW!
