Spillery Pizza and Piccola Cucina Amaretti

Question: is it really 2 for 1 pizza when one pizza is $9.75 and two are $18.95? I didn’t think so.

Amaretti Spillery Pizza and Piccola Cucina Amaretti

So we passed on Inglewood Pizza for Spillery Pizza (yes, the website still says Paul’s – it hasn’t been updated yet), which was really very good, and chased it with a little bag of delicate, chewy, gluten-free amaretti made by my friend Pina. She and her mom have launched a delicious biscotti/amaretti company called Piccola Cucina, and I’m proud to say she’s managed to get in with some coffee shops around town, and these little babies are served at Holt’s trunk sales and private shopping nights. (If you need someone to take care of your holiday baking and package it all up for you, she’s your girl. And a really sweet one at that.)

Pizza eh, seems like all we’ve eaten this weekend is the cheese pie also. I never looked at the difference in price between a single and two for one. Not pleased with your discovery. Means I’ve over paid for YEARS!

Hmmm, well you “can fool some of the people some of the time…” but a “savings” of $.55?!, I don’t think so. Somebody didn’t pass Math 20. That pizza does look dam(n) good tho’. So do the Amaretti. Makes me wish I lived in Calgary. (Well, except for the sudden blizzards).

I drive past Paul’s (now Spillery…noticed the name change the other day) about 3 times a week on my way home from work and have never ordered from there.

Now I will have to, because that just looks too good.

Yum! I love deep-dish type pizzas, and this one looks pretty good! Which one off the menu is it?

Bacon, mushroom and double cheese. See how it gets all crispy on top? So gooood…

    Looks crispy too!
Pizza and amaretti sound like a culinary haven after an OD of turkey and pie. (A Freudian slip… I just wrote “turdey” … it’s about how I am feeling about turkey right about now) :)
I have to say it’s one of my least favorite holiday meals. Give me pizza!!!

As an East Coaster-turned-Chicagoan, I’m forever arguing the merits of NY-style pizza to the thick crust fans around here… but I have to admit, that pizza looks pretty awesome.

Okay, maybe it’s not really 2 for 1, but that pizza certainly looks worth the price. Our local pizza joint is called Mountain Station Pizza and one that looks like your photo would go for $25. Mmmm, pizza . . . What is it that makes us want more? Happy week ahead!

No no, I was referring to Inglewood Pizza’s bad 2 for 1 math. Spillery pizza doesn’t do the 2 for 1 thing – it’s just small, medium or large! And yes, totally worth it!

Oh man! I have been craving pizza and this didn’t help at all! That looks divine.

Looks like a great meal to me.

Julie, I keep seeing you everywhere I go these days, it seems! I had a magazine (Glow, I think) that had your “fried” chicken recipe… and just now I saw your picture at http://www.ottawacitizen.com/life/holiday-guide/gift/Gifts+from+kitchen+Homemade+presents+warm+hearts+fill+tummies/2276105/story.html

Kind of fun seeing you all over the place :)

PS — I just tried to click through the links from your bookstore page (to see how much they are) and after logging into paypal and trying again, it says the links are outdated

grew up in saskatchewan living in the US now and this picture of the pizza immediately reminded me of the ‘meat laden’ pizzas we were accustomed to having from places like Western Pizza. Rarely have found anything quite like those pies outside of western canada!
