Cranberry Eton Mess

Cranberry%2BEton%2BMess Cranberry Eton Mess
My new favourite dessert – Eton mess, traditionally served at Eton College’s annual cricket game against the students of Winchester College in the UK – is like a deconstructed pavlova you eat with a spoon – and so perfect post-turkey dinner. (As much as I love plum pudding, it’s not exactly the sort of thing you want to eat after a roast turkey, stuffing, potatoes and gravy.) This version is made with cranberries, which I thought would taste weird, but totally doesn’t. I’ll be making these for dessert tomorrow – turns out I’m making a full-on turkey dinner for Mike’s extended family.

Our Christmas party is still going on downstairs. I took photos. Just wanted to sneak off and say hi.

I love this dessert! And with cranberries? Yum! Do share some stories of the family dinner if you can :)

This looks really good. I agree a light dessert after a full turkey meal is a quite appealing.

“Just wanted to sneak off and say hi.” at 1:20something in the morning. LOL this is why we love ya Julie!

I’ve looked at Eton Mess in Domestic Goddess but never made it – you’re right, it’s perfect after such a heavy meal!

Christmas party Saturday. Then hosting a full on turkey dinner Sunday? Geezus.

Mike better have a BIG present for you the 25th – or the little teeeeny blue velvet box with something sparkly ;)

Funny, I just made this for a dessert recently, with meringues that weren’t pink enough nor small enough to make dailty sandwich cookies for a baby girl shower. After several weeks in the pantry they ended up roughly crushed and layered with whipped cream and a cranberry sauce. Who knew it was an Eton Mess?
