Without Papers Pizza
I’m so excited that the space that once was Nectar Desserts, conveniently located a few blocks from my house, is now Without Papers (a play on the fact that Angelo and the guys making the pizza are true Italians) Pizza, owned by the folks at Sugo. It’s open (Tues-Sun) from 11 till 11, has a wine menu and Steam Whistle on tap and long comfy benches and padded stools. Not only do they make fab pizza in a nail polish red pizza oven, they
make their own ice cream.
There are (silent) movies projected on the walls – yesterday it was Barbarella.
They make everything in-house – like warm spiced olives.
And the best meatballs I’ve had in ages.
And the aforementioned ice cream – in a cherry cola float. Or root beer. Or ginger ale.
And yes, there’s pizza. Mike’s favorite was the Hogwild: spicy wild boar sausage and prosciutto, braised rapini, friulano, roasted garlic panna. Above is the Parma: prosciutto di Parma, fresh arugula, bocconcini, tomato sauce.
Welcome to the ‘hood!

That looks like such a great place to stop by for a slice! The silent movie idea is great.

It’s a great space for a funky restaurant. I enjoyed sitting at the window when it was Nectar. Julie, what are the prices like in terms of value?

I had the Shroom pizza… so good! I found the pizzas (which are personal-sized) pretty filling and good quality for the price. They also offer many wines by the glass, which I appreciated (I had their house red, which went well with the pizza).

Lesli – you can see the menu and prices here – http://www.wopizza.ca
They say they’re single serving pizzas, but are more than enough for one! The pizzas range from $11-$18.

next time I’m in Calgary, I’ll roll over to check it out. We have some similarly great pizza spots here in Vancouver!

We tried out Without Papers Pizza on your recommendation, Julie, and were glad we did! It was a great place to go, even rather late on a Thursday night. Food was super and so was the atmosphere. Thanks for the recommendation!
