Vancouver Book Tour, Day 1

tree Vancouver Book Tour, Day 1

I fell asleep getting this up last night – what a fun day.

That tree? One of my favourites in the world. It’s in Stanley Park, by the rowing club. If I lived in Vancouver I’d come sit under it every day. Vancouver is stunning in the fall – all the brilliant colours we don’t get in Calgary. W and I spent half our time stopping to wow over enormous maple leaves, adding bigger and bigger specimens to the bundle in my hand.

We started the day early with a segment on BT Vancouver – you can watch it here.

Then we headed to the Whitecap offices in Gastown to do a couple phone interviews. Fog!

Fortunately, the office was right around the corner from Revolver Coffee and Meat & Bread, two spots we always make a point of stopping at en route to or from the ferry to Tofino.

In the afternoon, we walked through the park to the Vancouver Aquarium. Highlights: SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D (the Great Jelly Rescue) and an otter cleaning its face. Is there anything cuter? I think not.

Could I have any more forehead wrinkles? I think not.

We wrapped up the evening with a tea party at one of my favourite places in the world – Barbara Jo’s Books to Cooks. I could spend hours being inspired by the gorgeous books on her shelves (and tables, and piano) – the interwebs will never replace this kind of cookbook shopping experience.

Keegan Connor Tracy came!

I wish I could have seen you live, but I’m stuck at home recovering from surgery.
Still, you lifted my spirits on BT Vancouver

I had sent you an email months ago. Today (Friday) is the day for the BC Provincial Professional Development Day for all teachers. I was so hoping to have had you come to the Home Economics Teachers conference. This is what I get for not following up! :-(
Love your blog / travels / recipies!
    Thank you
